One of the things that I hate is computer games. I hate them cause I like them so much! They distract you from everything that you do, they eat up your time, they won’t let you stop until you finish them, and when you do finish them, you play them again because you’re not contented with what you achieved last time. In short, they’re ridiculously addictive, at least on my part. I have this tendency to get really hooked on a game that I enjoy playing. This is the reason why I don’t want to buy a game console (added to the fact that I can’t afford one); I won’t be able to do anything productive with my actual human life.
But recently, I got really curious about this particular game called “Plant Vs. Zombies”. Everyone I knew at work kept talking about it and I hate the fact that I didn’t know what the hell they were talking about. So I decided to try it out. And before I knew it, I was already hooked.
The object of the game is to protect your house from invading zombies by planting mutant plants on your lawn to fight off the zombies to protect your house from the zombies who are invading your house to eat your brains which is kind of scary but you do have the plants to protect you from the zombies who are invading your house to eat your brains. Did that make any sense? This game enhances your strategic skills, like chess but is a lot more fun. But to be honest, I’m more afraid of the plants here. Imagine fruits that explode, plants that shoot, and nuts that block your way. What if these plants suddenly turn on you? What if they had a coup d’etat? Maybe you weren’t giving them enough fertilizer, and they formed a union? You didn’t give them the bonus you promised? What then?! Ok, just went paranoid there.
Another point I want to make: why did the developers of the game assume that when the zombies get to go inside the house, the owner is automatically eaten, or de-brained, by the zombies? Is their faith in a human’s will to survive that low? I mean, look at the plants for goodness’ sake! Whoever’s inside that house was able to create mutant plants! And then he can’t defend himself inside his own house?? Didn’t the creators of this game watch “Zombieland”? Where’s the “Double Tap”?
