Easy Way Out
"When all of the world says we won't make it through, we'll battle the world..."
There comes a point in a person's life when exhaustion takes hold. A moment where countless options flood your mind, leaving you paralyzed with indecision. You grow weary of it all, yearning for a time when choices were made for you when the weight of responsibility wasn't solely on your shoulders. But reality beckons, reminding you that you are on your own. The choices you make shape your identity, but if you cannot make a choice, who are you then? A hollow vessel wandering aimlessly on this earth? Or are you simply lost, like an angst-ridden teenager with smeared eyeliner, immersed in the music that resonates with their confusion?
And then, that moment arrives. Your mind becomes a chaotic maze, thoughts colliding and merging until they blur into a formless mass. It feels like being in the midst of a raucous concert, yet all you hear is deafening silence. Is this what they call peace? Or is it merely the calm before the storm? Your legs go numb, and you find yourself lying back, surrendering to the overwhelming weight. What else can you do? Your gaze shifts upward, to the sky, to the stars. They shine in the distance, light-years away, forever out of reach. Is this peace as vast as the universe? But everything has an end, everything.
Gradually, the silence fades, giving way to a deluge of troubles. When it rains, it pours. You try to run, to hide, but your efforts are futile. Finally, you rise to fight the demon within, but your strength falters. You've tried everything, yet it remains resilient. You've drowned it in alcohol and scorched it with cigarettes, but it only grows stronger. It consumes you from within like maggots devouring a lifeless rat. It devours until you can bear it no longer. You yearn for it to end. But how will it end? You don't truly know, yet deep down, you do. Cold, devoid of soul, and razor-sharp, you surrender your own warmth. You are willing to sacrifice everything to make it stop, everything.
The once-clear choices in your mind blend into a haze, remnants of someone you once were but have now forgotten. You realize who that person is, and yet, you don't truly recognize them anymore. The arid soil comes alive, nourished by your tear-stained crimson. And then, you hear the silence once again—the silence you thought you were seeking. But it fails to quench your thirst for peace. The stars fade, their brilliance extinguished. Darkness envelopes everything, rendering your surroundings pitch-black. So dark that it blinds your very eyes. This wasn't what you desired, yet it was the choice you made. Away from the troubles of life, away from life itself. The choice appears easy—an escape from your burdens—but the price to pay is immeasurable. You must relinquish everything, everything.
Awakening from this fleeting encounter with death, relief floods over you, realizing it was merely a creation of your subconscious. The flame of courage now burns brighter within your heart. You are resolved to confront life and the challenges it presents. You understand that an easy way out of your troubles is no solution at all. You rise and continue your journey, prepared for every moment that time throws your way. You comprehend that life's trials aren't meant to weaken you, but to forge your strength. And you boldly declare to life, "Go ahead! Give me your best shot! I am ready for every obstacle you throw my way. I am prepared to face everything you dare to challenge me with, everything."
