Movie Review: Legion

Legion tells the story of a group of people engaged in a battle against God's angels.

In this storyline, God becomes extremely angry with humanity and decides to wipe them out by sending possessed angels to destroy all of mankind. However, one angel named Michael rebels against God and chooses to protect humanity. His mission is to safeguard Charlie, a woman carrying a baby who is believed to be humanity's only hope for survival. The specifics of how the baby will save mankind are never clearly explained; it's simply a matter of belief.

The dilemma arises when Charlie and others find themselves trapped in a gas station diner. Michael arrives with heavy weaponry, and they must fend off an entire legion of attacking angels until the baby is born. It sounds straightforward, but when the baby arrives prematurely, the legion inexplicably stops its assault. Then Gabriel, another angel, confronts Michael and kills him. Gabriel proceeds to chase after Charlie and her baby. Miraculously, Michael comes back to life, defeats Gabriel without killing him, and reveals that God favored him over Gabriel. And that's essentially the entire movie.

Here are a few additional points about the film:
1) The angels can possess humans with weak minds, leaving us to wonder if the people in the diner possess stronger mental abilities that prevent them from being possessed.
2) Angel wings are depicted as impenetrable, like metal, unable to be pierced by bullets.
3) The movie doesn't adhere to the traditional expectation that an anime samurai pose would lead to one character falling and dying after they pass each other.
4) It's disappointing when a movie that isn't well-received leaves room for a sequel.

Rating: 2 stars. The film earns these stars primarily for a scene involving an old lady being hit in the face with a frying pan and crawling up the wall and ceiling.
