TWD S4E3: Isolation

Here are some thoughts on the latest Walking Dead episode:

- I was right! The person who killed Tyrese’s girlfriend Karen and Dave was someone you would’ve least expected. And that someone was Carol. They’re somehow making a few connections to the flow of the story in the comic book where Carol was a psycho bitch. 

- A huge black guy that has a body worthy of an NFL player and can beat the crap out of dozens of walkers is no match against a white cop in a fist fight.

- Here’s something you don’t see every day: 3 African-Americans and a redneck in a muscle car going out to look for antibiotics in a veterinary school.

- Driving Safety Tip: Never play around with the radio while driving or you might end up running over some zombies. 

- Driving Safety Tip # 2: Never run over several zombies at once or your car might get stuck on all those carcasses.

- Zombie Safety Tip: If you’re a zombie hanging out with your other zombie friends and you come across an angry black dude whose girlfriend just died, better get out of the way.

- Even the zombies in this show want the pork barrel to be abolished. They actually did their own version of the million people march. Watch out prison people, a huge wave of zombies is coming. And I don’t think that fence of yours is gonna hold.

- Thank you to the writers of this show for teaching everyone how to be responsible. If you let out your drama, like Carol, and start to throw away your much-needed water, be responsible enough to replace it.

- A closed door can prevent a contagious disease from coming in.

Here we have another movie adaptation of a book, which seems to be the prevailing trend these days. Sometimes I ponder why anyone would bother buying a book when a movie version is soon to follow. A friend of mine has a habit of watching the movie first and then reading the book for comparison. I advised her not to bother because, more often than not, the book always surpasses the movie. Watching a movie based on a book is like witnessing someone else's interpretation of the story, and that someone has to alter the context significantly. It's understandable since Hollywood has its limitations, unlike the boundless realms of our imaginations. The film's producers can't faithfully replicate the book word for word due to constraints of budget and time. So here's my advice to you: If you're a fan of the book, stick with it.
