-          The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) made big commotion in Zamboanga City. Thousands of our kababayans were affected by the stand-off. The MNLF group demands that Mindanao should be separated from the Philippines. Basically, they want Mindanao to be a new country. Well, if they can do these things to their fellow Filipinos now that they are still under the Philippine government, I can do when they’re on their own. Good thing that the chaos is over now. However, the citizens of Zamboanga City are still on the process of recovering.

-          The PDAF issue gave birth to a shit-load of other bigger issues. Thanks to the privilege speech of one of the alleged benefactors of the Napoles NGOs another issue came to light. The issue is about the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) that was allegedly given to some lawmakers as a bribe so they will vote for the impeachment of Ex-Chief Justice Renato Corona. There was also an issue concerning the Malampaya fund, a fund that’s supposed to be used for the country’s energy development and yet found its way to the bogus NGOs that focus on agriculture. Just thinking about the whole thing gives me a headache. I’d hate to be the President right now.

-          Habagat and other weather disturbances are still kicking our country’s ass like a big, ugly bully. I don’t think that even Republic Act 10627 can do anything about it. This is the proof that we need to actually see that the climate is drastically changing and if we do not change our way of living, this will go on and get even worse.

-          Ms. Megan Young gave the country some good news by becoming the first ever Filipina to win the Ms. World pageant. She really deserved to win.

-          And finally, in the midst of all the issues that affect every Filipino, Claudine Barretto and Raymart Santiago are busy suing each other’s ass. I’m at awe with their attitude towards life. They don’t give a single fuck about the country’s issues and all they care about are their own personal issues and how everyone should pay attention to them. Maybe one of them has a movie coming out. It’s very sad to see them like this. It only seemed like yesterday when they were together beating the hell out of Mon Tulfo.


There are a lot of things happening in our country, I don’t even know where to begin. But I do hope that everything will be okay someday.

Here we have another movie adaptation of a book, which seems to be the prevailing trend these days. Sometimes I ponder why anyone would bother buying a book when a movie version is soon to follow. A friend of mine has a habit of watching the movie first and then reading the book for comparison. I advised her not to bother because, more often than not, the book always surpasses the movie. Watching a movie based on a book is like witnessing someone else's interpretation of the story, and that someone has to alter the context significantly. It's understandable since Hollywood has its limitations, unlike the boundless realms of our imaginations. The film's producers can't faithfully replicate the book word for word due to constraints of budget and time. So here's my advice to you: If you're a fan of the book, stick with it.
