Strongest in the World

I can’t even begin to describe the sadness that I’m feeling while watching the aftermath of super typhoon Yolanda (international name Haiyan). I can only imagine what our Visayan brothers and sisters are going through right now. I can’t think of any words of comfort that could possibly be good enough to make them feel better. After being bombarded by strong earthquakes and aftershocks, this shitty thing happened.

They say in the news that Yolanda/Haiyan is the strongest typhoon in the world so far this year, and it happened to hit the people with the strongest spirit in the world. We often hear in the news, even from foreigners, how the Filipino spirit is so resilient; that we Filipinos have this ability to still smile in the face of the most devastating tragedies in our lives. That is definitely true. I believe that we as a nation would be able to recover from this disaster and in the future look back on it as nothing but a small hindrance in our lives. It will definitely leave a scar in our hearts, more so to the victims who were directly affected, but will still give us valuable lessons in life.

Let us do our part and help our brothers and sisters in their time of need. Let us give thanks to the other nations who have extended their support. Let us hope that fucking corrupt government officials do not take advantage of the circumstances, but actually use the funds in helping the victims.
